Serbia's Novak Djokovic began his campaign at the ATP 500 China Open in Beijing with a dominating 6-2, 6-1 conquest of Spain's Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the tournament opener. Having cleared the first hurdle, the two-time defending champion is in no mood of signing off the tournament before making a hat-trick of titles in the most populous country, as he aims to retain the top spot in men's rankings.

"I'm fighting for No. 1 in the world," Djokovic was quoted as saying by ATPWorldTour.com. "Of course, every tournament is important. This is already a huge motivation," he continued. "I love competing.
