The three-sets win over the Japanese Kei Nishikori in Rome was an important one in many aspects for Novak Djokovic. The Serbian won his fourth match in a row for the first time since the 2017 French Open one year ago, but he also equalled two legends in a special statistic list.
Djokovic has now reached 136 semi-finals, same as two other former world no. 1s, Andre Agassi and Ilie Nastase, in the seventh place of the Open Era. Rafael Nadal is sixth with 149 semis, Guillermo Vilas, who has 150 is fifth and John McEnroe who has played 156 semis is fourth.
The podium starts with Ivan Lendl, 189 semis, then Roger Federer (195) and the American Jimmy Connors leading the way with 240 semi-finals.
