Tennis - World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has initiated a 'Season of Giving' campaign for the Novak Djokovic Foundation and they have decided to match all donations raised as well. The funds will benefiit the foundation's school builds program in order to build more preschools in Serbia to provide quality education to more children.
So far, more than $100,000 have been raised and continues through January 8th. In a statement released, Djokovic says, “According to the current state of affairs in Serbia, every second child doesn’t have the possibility to attend a pre-school program.
Thankfully, we, adults, have the power to transform their lives and shape their future for the better. So, this and every holiday season, it is so important to remember that there are so many kids out there who need our help and support to become the champions of their own dreams, and that’s why Jelena and I decided to do whatever we can to affect this change in our society.” The Novak Djokovic Foundation was founded in 2007 as a global organization that invests in quality pre-school education in Serbia, a country in which every other child doesn’t have access to preschool education.
The Foundation’s work is based on the belief that pre-school education can change the lives of children and the whole community. We achieve this by creating the highest quality programs and learning environments where more than 1,300 teachers and parents participated.
So far, the Foundation has reconstructed or built 41 kindergartens and helped more than 22,000 children. Also Read - Tomas Berdych Says Australian Open is One of His Favourite Slams
