Novak Djokovic praises Fabio Fognini, Lajovic on Monte Carlo run

Through his official Instagram account, Novak Djokovic praised Dusan Lajovic and Fabio Fognini's runs in the Monte Carlo Masters. The Italian defeated Rafael Nadal in the semifinals and then the Serb in the final to conquer his maiden Masters 1000 title.

"Amazing week for both of these guys. Congratulations to Dusan for making his first 1000 final and playing some of his best tennis ever. He absolutely deserves this success. One of the nicest guys I know Fabio, well done friend.

Fantastic. Very happy for you", wrote Djokovic. On his physical condition, Fognini added: "The thigh is a question mark. The elbow is okay, my ankle hurts a bit while the thigh worries me. I will train again on Tuesday and I hope that it's nothing big because Barcelona is where I lived an important part of my career, I would love to play there because now I am confident.

We will decide in the best way." Analyzing his win over Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals, Lajovic said: "He got a little bit tight at the end of the first set and I was able to steal that first set. And then in the second set, I started playing much better, and he got a little bit tired.

It's good to win in two sets again, and, yeah, I think that the second set was very just solid from me. Every game I was fighting for every point and show him that it's not going to be easy, so that's why the result from the second set."
