Tennis expert Annabel Croft compared world No. 1 Novak Djokovic to a machine as she predicted Belgian David Goffin would have an extremely tough job against the Serb. Djokovic, seeded at No. 1, cruised past 2017 Nitto ATP Finals runner-up Goffin 6-4 6-0 6-2 to reach the semifinal at The Championships.
"Novak Djokovic is like a machine, he's one of the most balanced tennis players I have ever watched on court - he seems to have so much time, the way he redirects the ball. His serve is so accurate, so it will be very tough for David Goffin to do it over the long haul," Croft told BBC Radio 5 Live before the Djokovic and Goffin clash.
Goffin failed to convert any of his two break points in the fourth game but kept pressing as he claimed the first break of the in the seventh game to take a 4-3 lead. Goffin then made a good start to his service game as he won the first two points but still got broken back.
The Belgian's game fell apart after losing the eighth game as Djokovic won 10 games in a row to take a 6-3 6-0 1-0 lead. Goffin served out the second game of the third set to stop Djokovic's run but it changed nothing as the Serb dominated the rest of the set to claim a straight-set win.
