Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic and women’s runner-up Serena Williams are the favorites to triumph at the 2019 US Open that will take place between 26 August and 8 September. The Serbian, who denied two championship points to Roger Federer in the All England Championships’ final, is priced at 2.30 odds on Oddschecker, a specialized website.
That means he has approximately 43% chances to win this year’s Flushing Meadows Grand Slam. No wonder, as Novak is the reigning champion after he beat Juan Martin Del Potro in last year’s US Open final. Nadal follows with 17% chances – being priced at 6.00 odds -, while Roger Federer comes third having 13% chances of lifting the trophy.
The next favorite after the big three is Alexander Zverev who is priced at sky-high odds of 23.00. That means that he has no more than 5% chances of prevailing in the American Grand Slam. On the women’s side, we have a tighter fight.
Serena Williams starts with 6.00 odds – 17% chances -, especially because she played the last year’s final, while the Wimbledon champion Simona Halep stands tall at 9.00 odds – 11% chances. After Serena Williams and Simona Halep - the 2019 Wimbledon protagonists -, Naomi Osaka and Ashleigh Barty – number two and number one in the world -, are the top candidates.
Osaka is priced at 11.00 odds (9%) while Barty at 12.00 (8%). From these statistics, we can see how Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer hold the strings of the ATP Tour while observing the chaos on the WTA scene.
