In an interview to Eurosport the seven-time Grand Slam winner John McEnroe made his predictions ahead of the US Open. The American former player said: "It's a tough call. I think on the men's side I can't not pick Novak Djokovic.
I just think that what he brings to the table overall is so difficult for the other guys so I can't not pick him. The women's tournament is a tougher call. It is hard to say right now. You could pick players for different reasons.
Believe it or not if I had to pick one person I'd still pick Serena. I just think she wants it more than anyone or as much as anyone." Asked who could compete against Federer, Djokovic or Nadal and maybe cause an upset, Mats Wilander added: "It's hard to say, I think Felix Auger-Alliasime, is most probably the one who has the best chance of doing something that's extraordinary.
I think somebody like Stefanos Tsitsipas has the chance to be a multiple Grand Slam winner but of the ones that we know of now, winning 15 Slams, I would say that it's one of those two of the players that are playing now."
