Serbia's Novak Djokovic and Filip Krajinovic are set to play doubles together in back-to-back weeks for the first time in their respective careers. Djokovic, 32, and 27-year-old Krajinovic have signed up to play doubles at the Shanghai Masters.
Unfortunately for the Serbs, they haven't been lucky with their Shanghai draw as they will be facing fifth-seeded Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies in their doubles opener. Krawietz and Mies, who are enjoying a breakthrough season on the Tour as a pair, claimed their maiden Grand Slam title at this year's French Open.
The Germans enter the match as the favorites but the Serbs have proven capable of beating some notable doubles pairs as they beat Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in Doha a couple of years ago. This week at the Japan Open, Djokovic and Krajinovic fought well against fourth-seeded Mate Pavic and Bruno Soares but still lost their Tokyo doubles opener as the fourth-seeded duo won 6-2 4-6 10-4.
It remains to be seen can Djokovic and Krajinovic kick off their Shanghai doubles campaign with a win over the French Open champions.
