Karen Khachanov speaks about rivalry with Novak Djokovic

Speaking to GQ Karen Khachanov opened up on his rivalry with the Serb Novak Djokovic. The Russian said: "I played with him several times. The first one in 2018 Wimbledon, I lost in four sets, it was so tough and then he won the title.

Then in Paris Masters it was the final, I understood there would be just one winner - chances were 50 and 50. I thought I could deliver a good level. It was a very successful end to the season, I was very fit. I had just won the Kremlin Cup in front of my crowd in Moscow.

I was pretty confident and prepared and I beat him", said Khachanov who hopes to become No. 1. "I will work for it. I do not want to pick one specific tournament. I just have to go step by step and improve every day. I cannot know early which tournament I can win and where something can go wrong.

I can just do my best." Asked if he plans to play next year's Olympic Games in Tokyo, Khachanov replied: "I definitely want to represent Russia and win for our country." Asked if he prefers Rolex or Apple Watch, Khachanov replied: "Rolex!

That's my sponsor. But it's my favorite watch brand anyways so I would have still picked it." Khachanov will try to retain his Kremlin Cup title next week.
