Rising Serbian star Laslo Djere has nothing but good to say of fellow compatriot and world No. 2 Novak Djokovic. Djere, who enjoyed a breakthrough season on the Tour in 2019, says Djokovic has made himself available when ever he needs any type of help.
Djere, 24, claimed his maiden ATP title at the Rio Open in February after beating rising Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final. The 24-year-old also made semifinals on three different occasions as he also had deep runs in Sao Paulo, Budapest and Umag.
The Serb achieved his career-high ranking of No. 27 in the world this past June. "We know each other and always say a few words when we see each other at tournaments... He (Djokovic) sent me a message when I reached the Top 100 [of the ATP Rankings] and called me to play doubles with him at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, when I was nowhere close to the Top 100. He’s a great guy and an inspiration to all of us," world No. 38 Djere told the ATP Cup.
