ATP Cup feels like home for Novak Djokovic and Team Serbia

Novak Djokovic was grateful for the support of the Serbian fans who created a beautiful atmosphere that made the world number 2 feel like home during the undergoing ATP Cup. “Big energy starting the season right. Let’s go!!

Many THANK YOU to all our people who came to support us. Your support gave us strength when we needed it most. The atmosphere was like we were playing in Serbia”. , Djokovic said on Instagram. However, even if he felt an awesome vibe coming from the crowd, Djokovic thinks that ATP Cup and Davis Cup should be combined in a super-event because they are tiring for a lot of players.

The two competitions are currently separated by only six weeks. “That's not going to happen next year as well but if the ATP and ITF get together quickly, we could see that in 2022. I hope it will happen because it's not easy to get top players to commit and play both the Davis Cup and the ATP Cup”.

, Djokovic said. Team Serbia got past South Africa without problems. Djokovic took care of Kevin Anderson in straight sets and Lajovic edged Lloyd Harris in the singles matches, while Cacic and Troicki had no problems against Klaasen and Roelofse during the doubles encounter.

Next up for Team Serbia is France, who has a solid squad comprised of Gael Monfils, Benoit Paire, Gilles Simon, Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin. Team France got past Chile in the last tie after winning both singles and losing the doubles match. Djokovic's direct opponent will be Gael Monfils.
