World No. 2 Novak Djokovic, 32, insists he knows well Yoshihito Nishioka and he will be prepared for the Japanese when they meet in the Australian Open third round. The 32-year-old Serb safely cruised into the third round at Melbourne Park after a comfortable 6-1 6-4 6-2 win over Tatsuma Ito of Japan.
Meanwhile, world No. 71 Nishioka claimed a surprise straight-set win over No. 30 seed Daniel Evans 6-4 6-3 6-4 to set up a Djokovic clash. "I’m playing all the Japanese players in the field,” Djokovic joked when asked about his upcoming opponent, as revealed on the tournament's website.
“He (Nishioka) is very quick, probably one of the quickest on tour. I know what his strengths and weaknesses are and hopefully I’m able to execute the game plan”. Djokovic and Nishioka will be meeting for the second time in their respective careers when they meet at the Australian Open on Friday.
Former world No. 1 Djokovic won the lone meeting between the two as he saw off Nishioka 6-1 6-2 at the inaugural Davis Cup Finals this past November.
