Marbella Mayor gives recognition to Novak Djokovic

Marbella Mayor Angeles Munoz has thanked world No. 1 Novak Djokovic for staying in Marbella and frequently visiting the city. Djokovic, 32, has spent the last two months with his family in Marbella and this Monday he returned to the practice courts at a local tennis club.

Mayor Munoz thanked the Serb for "for the fidelity he has to our city, to which he always He comes to rest and visit his brother Marko, to the point that he decided to spend the confinement with his family here."

The Marbella Mayor admits having such a high profile celebrity in Marbella is a great promotion for the city.

"The fact that the current No. 1 of the ATP opts for Marbella reflects that we are a destination of excellence, not only to enjoy our very complete offer, but for elite sports practice," she said.

The tennis season has been suspended since March 12 and the earliest date for the tennis to return is early-August.

Djokovic started the season with a perfect record as he has won each of his 18 matches played and claimed three titles in a row.
