Borna Coric speaks extremely highly of Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer

Croatian tennis star Borna Coric says he sees a lot of similarities in his game and the game of world No. 1 Novak Djokovic but admits the Serb is better than him in every aspect of the game. Coric has had success against the biggest names of the game but he has never beaten 17-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic.

The Croatian has claimed at least one win over world No. 2 Rafael Nadal, record 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer and former world No. 1 Andy Murray. In his three matches played against Djokovic, world No. 33 Coric picked up three straight-set losses.

"We play a very similar tennis. I think he is better than me in every aspect --- except maybe the service. I can beat him only if he is having a really bad day and I'm having a really good day," Coric said on the Podcast Incubator.

Borna Coric absolutely enjoys playing against Federer

Coric, 23, has had a lot of success against Federer as he has won two of his six matches played against the Swiss. The Croatian lost his first two matches against Federer but then stunned the Swiss in the Halle final two years ago to create a major upset.

Several months later, Coric put up another strong performance against Federer to beat him the Shanghai semifinal and reach his maiden Masters final. Federer, a former world No. 1, won then won the two meetings he and Coric had last year as he claimed wins in Dubai and the Rome Masters.

Federer easily won their Dubai clash but had to work hard to edge out Coric in Rome as the Croatian blew two match points in their round-of-16 clash. "From the top guys, I really love to play against Roger because I have figured out how to play against him -- I've always played great against him because I have a great respect for him.

Whenever I play against him it feels like I turn my beast mode -- I always give 100 percent on the court but when I play against him I give like 110 percent because he is Roger Federer," Coric said. "If he is playing his best tennis -- like he played in Dubai or in the third set of our Indian Wells match -- I have no chance because he is simply better than me." Borna Coric will have to wait for 2021 to again meet Federer as the Swiss called it a season on Wednesday.
