Holger sprayed a forehand error in the third game, losing serve for the second time and falling 3-0 behind. The Dane got his name on the scoreboard with a forehand winner in the fifth game before the Italian opened a 5-1 gap with another hold at love.

Jannik served for the set at 5-2 and forced the rival's mistake, wrapping up the opener after 32 minutes. The younger player fired a service winner after deuce in the second set's third game, opening a 2-1 lead and already doing better than in the previous set.

The home favorite earned a break point in the next game, and Rune saved it with a service winner, remaining on the positive side.

Jannik left that opportunity behind and landed an ace in the sixth game, locking the result at 3-3. Holger experienced a tricky service game in the next one, holding after deuce with a booming serve and extending his chances.

Both players served well in the next three games, reaching 5-5 and increasing the drama. Rune held after deuce in the 11th game and created three set points on the return a few minutes later. The Dane seized the third with a perfect lob, leveling the overall score at 1-1 and keeping his semi-final chances alive.

Holher stayed composed in games three and five, denying break points and staying on the positive side. He wasted a crucial break point in the eighth game, allowing his rival to level the score at 4-4. Sinner brought his A-game on the return in the ninth game, creating three break chances.

The Italian converted the third with a beautiful volley winner, moving 5-4 up and serving for the victory. Sinner attacked at 30-30 and earned a match point. He seizes it to emerge at the top and reach the last four in style.
