Competing in his third ATP final, the young Briton Jack Draper clinched his first ATP title at the ATP 250 event in Stuttgart. A left-hander met the former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini in the final and prevailed 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 in two hours and four minutes.

Jack overcame a slow start and overpowered his rival in the closing stages of the second set to force a decider. Draper scored a break in the third set to emerge at the top, adding 250 ATP points to his tally and becoming the British No.

1 player for the first time in a career! Also, Jack is the eighth first-time ATP champion in 2024. Both players dominated with the first serve, dropping 18 out of 120 points after landing it in. Draper played a bit better behind the first and second serve, although they both claimed 91 points.

Jack seized one out of three break points and defended three out of four break chances, producing 13 consecutive holds and lifting his first ATP trophy.

The Briton built a slight advantage in the shortest and most advanced exchanges.

The Italian erased it in the mid-range ones, fighting hard but missing his opportunity in the middle of the final set. Matteo made a flying start, firing booming serves in the opening game and holding at love. A left-hander responded with a service winner in game two, locking the result at 1-1.

Berrettini released two powerful serves at 30-30 in the third game and made a push on the return in the next one. The Italian attacked and forced the Briton's mistake, creating two break points. The young gun hit a double fault on the first, losing serve and propelling his rival 3-1 in front after 13 minutes.

Matteo cemented the break with a forehand down the line winner in the fifth game, settling into a fine rhythm. Jack reduced the deficit with a hold at 15 in game six before reaching a deuce in the next one following solid net coverage.

Jack Draper lifted his first ATP trophy in Stuttgart.

Berrettini stayed focused and closed the game with powerful serves, moving 5-2 in front and keeping the pressure on the other side.

A left-hander served well in the eighth game, landing an ace for a hold at love and extending the battle. The Italian served for the set at 5-3 and landed powerful serves, wrapping up the opener after half an hour. Jack held at 30 at the beginning of the second set and reached a deuce on the return in the next one after an extended exchange.

Matteo closed the game with a volley winner at the net, keeping his serve intact and leveling the score at 1-1. Draper closed the third game at love with a service winner, and Berrettini followed that pace in the next one with a fine hold.

They held at love in games five and six, staying neck and neck before the Briton forced the rival's mistake in game seven for a 4-3 advantage. Matteo landed an ace down the T line for 4-4, and Jack landed a backhand winner in the next one for a hold at love and 5-4.

The young gun shifted to a higher level on the return in the tenth game, creating two set points, the second with a crafty volley winner. Berrettini denied them and closed the game with a service winner for a crucial hold and 5-5.

After missing his chances, Draper faced the exit door in game 11, offering his opponent two break points. Jack denied them with powerful serves and closed the game with a crafty serve & volley combo, surviving and remaining on the positive side.

The set went into a tie break, and Berrettini clinched the first mini-break in the fifth point after Draper's forehand error. Jack pulled it back in the next point and moved 5-4 up after a brilliant drop shot winner. Jack landed a forehand return winner in the 11th point, generating a set point.

A left-hander seized it after another serve & volley combo, wrapping up the set and forcing a decider after an hour and 27 minutes.

Matteo held at love in the first game and painted a forehand crosscourt winner at 1-1.

Draper leveled the score at 2-2 with a powerful serve before wasting a game point a game later. The Briton missed a drop shot, offering his rival a break chance. Jack denied it with a serve &volley and painted a backhand down the line winner for 3-3.

The young gun landed a backhand winner in the seventh game, earning a break chance and seizing it with a backhand crosscourt winner for a pivotal advantage. Draper held at love in game eight with a service winner, extending the gap and keeping the pressure on the other side.

Matteo held at love in game nine to prolong the duel, and Jack served for the win at 5-4. Draper felt no pressure, holding at love with an ace and lifting his first ATP trophy.
