The 20-year-old Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard is the new giant server of men's tennis! The young Frenchman is through into the Wimbledon third round, firing 154 aces in five duels (two best-of-three encounters) and presenting his incredible initial shot to the tennis world.

Mpetshi Perricard fell in the third qualifying round to his compatriot Maxime Janvier after a massive battle, firing 44 aces in four sets! Giovanni entered the main draw as a lucky loser and faced Sebastian Korda in the first round.

Two rivals battled hard for almost three and a half hours, splitting the opening four sets in the tie breaks before the Frenchman clinched the only break of the duel in the decider. Mpetshi Perricard blasted 51 aces (95 in the previous two matches) against the 20th seed, fending off all 11 break points and earning his first Major victory in style!

Korda missed a set point in the third set before creating chances on the return in the fourth.

Giovanni denied them and reached a tie break, losing it and allowing Sebastian to force a decider.

The Frenchman grabbed an early break that carried him over the top after five comfortable holds. The opening set saw no break chances, with Korda holding after a deuce in game 12 to introduce a tie break. Mpetshi Perricard claimed it 7-5 with a booming serve, moving in front and gaining a boost.

The rain sent them off the court in the ninth game of the second set for over an hour. The servers kept the returners away from break chances, as they arranged the second tie break. Korda took it 7-4, leveling the overall score before receiving a medical timeout ahead of set number three.

Giovanni lost his focus a bit in the first game, offering his rival three break chances, the first of the match. The giant server fired three aces, repelling break points and keeping his serve intact. They served well in the remaining 11 games, introducing the third tie break.

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard is the best server at Wimbledon after the opening two rounds.

Mpetshi Perricard denied a set point at 5-6 with a powerful serve and converted a set point at 7-6 with a volley winner, opening two sets to one advantage.

Korda created eight break chances in the fourth set, squandering them and barely surviving the 11th game. The American clinched the fourth breaker 7-4, forcing a decider after two hours and 57 minutes. The young Frenchman stayed calm and grabbed the only break of the match in the second game of the final set after the rival's costly forehand error.

Giovanni held from 0-30 in the third game, surviving deuces and cementing the advantage. Mpetshi Perricard produced three comfortable holds in the rest of the set, serving for the win at 5-3. He held at love with his 51st ace, sealing the deal and celebrating his first Major triumph.

As a reward, Giovanni faced Yoshihito Nishioka in the second round, storming over the Japanese and earning a 6-4, 6-1, 6-2 victory in an hour and 11 minutes for a place in the third round.

The Frenchman blasted 27 aces, dropping 12 points behind the initial shot and fending off both break points.

The Japanese could not follow that pace, especially after the opening set. Nishioka dropped 45% of the points in his games and gave serve away five times from seven chances offered to his opponent, propelling the young gun into the third round.

Mpetshi Perricard fired 50 winners and 14 unforced errors, outplaying Nishioka in every department and moving into the last 32. Both players served well in the opening seven games, with the Frenchman landing an ace down the T line for 4-3 after 15 minutes.

Giovanni created a break chance in the eighth game, and Yoshihito erased it with a service winner, leveling the score at 4-4 and remaining on the positive side. Mpetshi Perricard made another push on the return in the tenth game and fired a forehand winner for a set point.

Giovanni placed a deep return, forcing Yoshihito's mistake and wrapping up the opener 6-4 in 27 minutes. The Frenchman gained a boost before facing the only troubled service game at the beginning of the second set.

The young gun played a wild forehand and offered his opponent two break points. A tall player denied them with powerful serves and landed a forehand down the line winner for a hold. Giovanni attacked on the return in the second game and landed a forehand crosscourt winner for a break at 15 and a set and a break lead.

Mpetshi Perricard landed a service winner in the fifth game and earned another break at 15 in the next one for a 5-1 advantage. The Frenchman served for the set in game seven and held at love with an ace, moving 6-4, 6-1 in front after 46 minutes!

Giovanni kept that pace in the third set, producing four fine holds and delivering two breaks for a comfortable triumph. A left-hander sprayed a forehand error in the third game, losing serve at love and moving closer to the finish line.

The Frenchman wasted another break point in the fifth game and made another push at 4-2. Giovanni created a break chance with a forehand winner and landed another to emerge at the top in style and move into the last 32.
