Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo are the 2017 Mutua Madrid Open men's doubles champions. The number four seeds defeated French duo consisting of Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the final. The winners needed an hour and 20 minutes of action to earn a 7-5 6-3 victory over the sixth-seeded team.
Kubot and Melo won 36-of-41 points played behind their first serve. They as well converted 3-of-5 of their break point chances and saved 3-of-4 of the break tries of Mahut and Roger-Vasselin. Poland's Kubot and Melo of Brazil now have two doubles titles on the season.
The duo previously made it all the way at the Miami Masters. They were close to winning it all at the Indian Wells Masters as well -- but fell short in the final to Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram. On the other side, Mahut and Roger-Vasselin played together for the first time this year.
The players from France won four ATP doubles titles together in the past. Full result:
