ATP GENEVA & LYON: Early exit for Coric and Paire. Chung and Edmund through

ATP 250 Geneva : In their 4th meeting on the Tour, Andrey Kuznetsov defeated a former champion Thomaz Bellucci by 3-6 6-4 6-1 in an hour and 55 minutes for the place in the second round. It was a slow start for the Russian but he recovered in time to take the second set and sail through the decider, dropping serve only once in sets 2 and 3. Bellucci had a lot of troubles on his second serve and he got broken 5 times from 13 chances Russian created.

The result went back and forth in the first set, Brazilian was off to a good start, taking a 3-0 lead before Andrey leveled the score at 3-3. He lost the momentum after that, though, as Thomaz saved a break point in game 7 to break his rival in the next game and close the set on own serve in game 9 for a 6-3.

Things looked good for Bellucci, he broke again at the start of the second set to open up a 4-2 gap, only to lose 10 out of the last 11 games, in a familiar collapse we saw from him many times. Kuznetsov raised his level just in time to take the last 4 games of the second set and he had all the impulse on his side now, breaking Bellucci twice in the final set to bring the match home.
