Spanish tennis player Pablo Carreno Busta has won the 2018 Priceline Pharmacy Kooyong Classic men's title after beating home-favorite Matt Ebden in the final.
The 26-year-old recovered from a set and a break down to prevent the Australian from winning the title in front of his home fans 6-7 (6) 6-4 6-2.
Carreno Busta -- who also recovered from a set and a break down in his first match against 2016 and 2017 Kooyong Classic champion David Goffin -- needed just over two hours to get the job done against Ebden.
The 10th-ranked Spaniard is now ready to take on Australian Jason Kubler in the Australian Open round one after getting some good preparation in Kooyong this week.
World No. 76 Ebden will be more than ready and prepared to meet American John Isner at Melbourne Park as the Australian beat Marin Cilic in Kooyong before he lost to Richard Gasquet and Carreno Busta.
Swiss rising star Belinda Bencic made it all the way in the women's event after edging German world No. 101 Andrea Petkovic in the match tie-break of their final.
The 20-year-old needed just over an hour and a half of action to beat the 30-year-old by a 3-6 6-4 10-4 score.
Bencic previously defeated 16-year-old Xinyu Wang in straight sets to reach the final.
The Swiss hasn't played any WTA events so far this year but she isn't lacking matches ahead of the Australian Open, having featured at the Hopman Cup prior to the Kooyong Classic.
The final day of the Kooyong exhibition was also expected to feature a Goffin versus Marcos Baghdatis clash -- but the match was canceled as the program was affected by rain delays.
The Kooyong men's event celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, while the women's event was held for the second straight year and third-time overall.
