Unseeded Americans John Isner and Jack Sock have won it all at the Indian Wells Masters. Isner and Sock edged fellow compatriots Bob and Mike Bryan in a tight final 7-6 (4) 7-6 (2). Isner and Sock saved three break points in the eighth game of the first set before they clinched the opener in a tie-break a couple of games later.
The Bryans broke IsnIs and Sock in the seventh game to take a 4-3 second set lead but Isner and Sock broke back in the following game to make it 4-4. Isner and Sock lost the opening point of the second set tie-break but then won seven of the next eight points played to close out the match.
Isner and Sock hit six aces won 80% of their first serve points in just less than an hour and a half of action. Isner and Sock were playing their first tournament of the season as a pair. They didn't drop a single set in five matches played in the desert this year.
Isner and Sock won it all together for the second time. 2016 Beijing champions Isner and Sock beat the Bryans in the Beijing semi-finals on their way to winning it all in China. Prior to Indian Wells, the Bryans lost in the Acapulco final to Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares. Full results:
