The 30-year-old Mikhail Kukushkin has scored his eighth win of the season and also the eight on the grass in his career overall after a commanding 6-1 6-2 triumph over the young Aussie Alex de Minaur in just 63 minutes. De Minaur received a wild card for Wimbledon and his thoughts are probably already in London, playing a really poor match today, especially in the crucial moments to suffer such a one-sided loss.
He had his chances but Mikhail saved all seven break points he faced to keep the pressure on Alex who lost more than half of the points in his games, getting broken four times from six chances he gave to Kukushkin. The more experienced players raced into a 5-0 lead and he fends off four break points while serving for the set at 5-1 to wrap up the opener in less than 30 minutes.
Kukushkin saved three break points in the second game of the second set as well and he dominated in the rest of the match, breaking Alex in games three and seven to close the match with a hold at 15 in game eight for the place in the last 16. First round results:
