Australia's Lleyton Hewitt and Jordan Thompson have concluded their Wimbledon doubles campaign as they stood no chance against third-seeded Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus, who claimed a 6-4 7-6 (2) 6-2 win. Klaasen and Venus earned the first break of the match in the ninth game before they successfully served out for the opening game in the following game.
Hewitt and Thompson recovered from a break down in the second set to force a tie-break -- where they led 3-2 after the opening five points -- before Klaasen and Venus won five points in a row to go up by two sets. The two pairs were tied at 2-2 after the opening four games of the third set before the third seeds broke the Australians twice in a row and won four games in a row to seal the win.
Klaasen and Venus will fight against either 16th-seeded Robin Haase and Frederik Nielsen or Ken Skupski and John Patrick Smith for a place in the quarterfinal.
