Home favorite Andy Murray and French partner Pierre-Hugues Herbert have concluded their Wimbledon doubles campaign after losing to sixth-seeded Croatian duo Nikola Mektic and Franko Skugor. Murray and Herbert made a good start to the match -- having won a tight opener -- but still couldn't come up with the win as the sixth seeds won 6-7 (4) 6-4 6-2 6-3 to stage a big comeback and make the round-of-16.
As no breaks of serve were seen in the first set -- the first set went into a tie-break -- where Murray and Herbert realized their second set point to win the opener. Both teams also firmly held on to their serves throughout the big part of the second set but then Mektic and Skugor claimed the first break of the match in the 10th game level the match at a set apiece.
Murray and Herbert struggled after losing the second set on a disappointing way as the Croatians with two breaks of serve cruised past the third set to go up by two sets to one. There was no way back for Murray and Herbert after getting broken to love in the second game of the fourth set as Mektic and Skugor didn't give them a break point chance in the rest of the match to seal the win.
