2017 Nitto ATP Finals runners-up Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo have reached their second team semifinal at The O2 Arena after edging out American Rajeev Ram and Great Britain's Joe Salisbury 6-7 (5) 6-4 10-7 to finish Group Jonas Bjorkman with a 2-1 record.
Kubot and Melo fell just short of stealing the first set as they recovered from an early break down and saved four set points, before Ram and Salisbury realized their fifth set point in the tie-break to win a tight opener.
2017 Wimbledon champions Kubot and Melo came up big in the key moments of the second set as they saved a break point in the seventh game with a great serve, before they realized their first break point of the set in the 10th game.
After getting broken in the key moments of the second set and losing it, Ram and Salisbury struggled at the start of the match tie-break as Kubot and Melo won five points in a row to take a comfortable 6-2 lead. Kubot and Melo failed blew their first three match points but kept the experienced duo kept their focus and avoided blowing a huge lead as they converted their fourth match point to beat Ram and Salisbury in a direct clash for the last semifinal spot from Group Jonas Bjorkman.
