World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic have suffered a defeat in their doubles team at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. Djokovic, 32, and 31-year-old Cilic stood no chance against Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury as the top-seeded duo won 6-2 6-2.
Djokovic and Cilic got off to a bad start to the match as both dropped their opening service games. After taking a comfortable 4-0 first-set lead, Ram and Salisbury routinely served out the rest of the set to win the opener.
Djokovic and Cilic made a positive start to the second set as they served out their first two service games for a 2-1 lead. After winning four service games in a row, Djokovic and Cilic disappointingly once again suffered back-to-back breaks as Ram and Salisbury won five games in a row to close out the match.
Ram and Salisbury were perfect on their break points as they converted each of their four break point chances in just 55 minutes of play. The top seeds also put up a great serving display as they won 85 percent of their first serve points and also saved the two break point chances they faced in the match.
