Indian Wells: Aliaksandra Sasnovich's upset over Emma Raducanu dominates results

Aliaksandra Sasnovich posted the biggest upset at Indian Wells so far as she took down 17th seed and US Open champion, Emma Raducanu. The Belarusian won in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 in an hour and 25 minutes. The defeat marked the end of the Briton’s run of 10 consecutive match wins, going back to the qualifying stages at Flushing Meadows.

It was also stopped her run of 10 consecutive sets as the teenager hadn’t lost a set en route to the title in New York. Speaking after her win, the 100th-ranked Sasnovich said, “I saw a few matches of her when she played US Open and Wimbledon as well.

She's really a talented girl. She has a strong forehand, backhand. She tries to be always aggressive. It was a really good match for me. I play really well. I know she just won US Open. I lost there in the first round. So, a little bit different.

But I tried to go on court, I tried to enjoy. I did everything right and I'm happy with the result, of course”. Sasnovich will play former world no. 1 Simona Halep for a place in the fourth round. Halep defeated Marta Kostyuk 7-6(2), 6-1 in her opening-round clash in an hour and 33 minutes.
