Speaking about her serve helping her all through this week, Barty said, post-match, “I probably felt like overall this week my serve has been a real weapon.

I felt like I struggled with rhythm early on in the week and I've been able to progressively get better and better. To go a few matches unbroken is really good”. Lastly, about her performance in the first week of the 2022 season, Barty noted, “We've obviously had a brilliant week, been able to work progressively through each match.

I got better and better. I felt like today there were really a few key moments early in the first set to gain momentum. I was really happy to be able to get a couple of early breaks in the second and run away with it”. After her victory in the singles event of the Adelaide International 1, Ashleigh Barty teamed up with fellow Australian, Storm Sanders to win the doubles title.

Barty and Sanders defeated the third-seeded team of Darija Jurak Schreiber and Andreja Klepac 6-1, 6-4 in 61 minutes. This was the 25-year-old’s 12th career title in doubles. Barty will next play the Sydney Tennis Classic where, as the top seed she will take on either compatriot, Priscilla Hon or Romania’s Jacqueline Cristian in the second round. The world no. 1 has a bye in the first round.
