Camila Osorio took her place in the semi-finals of the Copa Colsanitas on Friday with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Elina Avanesyan. The Colombian needed an hour and 30 minutes to claim the win. Osorio won 64% of her first-serve points to Avanesyan’s 58% and 50% of her second-serve points to the latter’s paltry, 26%.
Osorio did hit eight double faults throughout the match while her opponent had three fewer with five but she didn’t let that affect her rhythm during the proceedings. The defending champion lost her serve only once, saving six of the seven break points she faced in the process and converted four of the dozen break points she had on her opponent’s serve.
The 20-year-old will next play fellow Latin American, Laura Pigossi for a spot in the final. The Brazilian downed Dayana Yastremska 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(3) in two hours and 33 minutes in their quarter-final clash. This is the first time that Pigossi’s reached the semi-finals of a WTA tournament.

Pigossi won 68% of her first-serve points to the Ukrainian’s 66% and 44% of her second-serve points to the latter’s 37%. She converted five of the 14 break-point chances on Yastremska’s serve while conceding her own serve six times in the course of the match.
In the bottom half of the draw, Tatjana Maria defeated Miriam Bjorklund to advance to the semis. The German posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory in 61 minutes. She won 66% of her first-serve points and 57% while the Swede could win 51% of her first-serve points and only 27% of her second-serve points.
Maria saved four of the six break points she faced while making good of the five of the break-point opportunities she got on Bjorklund’s serve. Maria’s opponent in the Copa Colsanitas semis will be Kamilla Rakhimova.
