How Krejcikova, Siniakova won the US Open final
Krejcikova and Siniakova had a 2-1 lead in the first set, before McNally and Townsend claimed back-to-back breaks and won four games in a row to take a 5-2 lead.
Krejcikova and Siniakova got one break back in the eighth game to cut the deficit to 5-3, but then got broken again in the ninth game and lost the first set. After winning the first set, McNally and Townsend earned an early second set break and opened a 2-0 lead.
Down by a set and a break, Krejcikova and Siniakova refused to quit, breaking back McNally and Townsend in the third game. After just getting a break back, Krejcikova and Siniakova lost their serve once again as McNally and Townsend led 4-1 through the first five games of the second set.
Just when it seemed that Krejcikova and Siniakova would lose in straight sets, they responded by claiming breaks in the seventh and 11th games and stealing the second set. McNally and Townsend paid the price for failing to close out the final in two sets as Krejcikova and Siniakova started the third set with back-to-back breaks and a 4-0 lead.
In the seventh game - when McNally and Townsend were serving to stay in the final - Krejcikova and Siniakova earned their third break of the set to complete a big comeback victory and lift the US Open title.
