WTA DOHA & ACAPULCO- Errani, Vinci, Jankovic, Wozniacki and Kuznetsova go through

Tennis- 9th seed Roberta Vinci, 11th seed Bacsinszky, 12th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova, 13th seed Caroline Wozniacki, 14th seed Jelena Jankovic and 16th seed Sara Errani have safely booked their places in the second round of the Qatar Total Open WTA Tournament in Doha. 16th seed Sara Errani had won the WTA Dubai Open title two days back and she kept her winning run going as she took revenge from Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pirankova.

The World No.103 had beaten Errani when they met last time in Sydney and once again Bulgarian got off to a great start and broke Errani twice to take the first set 6-1. In the second set Errani fought back and won it 7-5 to force a third set.

Both players were level until 3-3 but then Errani won last three games to go through. She will meet Timea Babos next, who also came back from one set down to beat Madison Brengle 3-6 7-5 6-0. 2004 and 2007 Doha finalist Svetlana Kuznetsova also booked her spot in the second round with a straight sets 6-3, 6-3 win over Julia Goerges. The German had beaten Kuznetsova 6-0, 6-1 in the first round of Dubai last week but this time Kuznetsova was in full control and she registered fifth win against her opponent.

Another former finalist of Doha and former World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki needed 3 sets to overcome 18-year-old Croatian qualifier Ana Konjuh. The teenager took the first set 6-4 but Wozniacki won the next two 6-3, 7-5 as she defeated her opponent for the third time in 3 meetings.

She will face Daria Gavrilova now, who brushed aside Japan's Misaki Doi in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Ninth seed Roberta Vinci needed only 64 minutes to ease past Ukraine's Lesya Tsurenko in straight sets 6-2 6-1. But 11th seed Timea Timea Bacsinszky needed 3 sets to beat USA's Bethanie Mattek-Sands Bethanie Mattek-Sands (USA) 6-7 6-1 6-3.

World No.15 Denisa Allertová stunned the 15th seed Elina Svitolina in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 and her opponent in the second round will be 2014 Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard. 2013 Wimbledon finalist Sabine Lisicki was beaten in straight sets by Monica Niculescu 6-2, 6-2.

Last week's Dubai semifinalist Caroline Garcia was beaten in straight sets by Elena Vesnina 6-3, 7-5 but Dubai finalist Barbora Strycova of Czech Republic got an easy win over France's Kristina Mladenovic in straight sets 6-3 6-4.
