WTA BOGOTA´: Arruabarrena Vecino and Vickery through to the second round

Claro Open Colsanitas has begun in Bogot, where Elina Svitolina and Teliana Pereira lead the pack. In Colombia fourth seed Lara Arruabarrena Vecino safely reached the second round. The Spaniard needed just 57 minutes to defeat American wildcard Alam Nadia Echeverria by 6-0 6-2, securing a spot into the last 16.

20-year-old Sachia Vickery made her debut with a convincing victory over Yuliana Lizarazo, defeated 7-6 6-1. The Clombian wildcard was up a break in the first set but after losing the tiebreak, she disappeared from the match, winning just one game.

In the other matches of the day Brazilian Paula Goncalves recovered from a set down to overcome Veronica Cepede 5-7 6-4 6-3, while Connie Perrin won the Swiss affair against Romina Oprandi by 6-4 7-6(5) WTA BOGOTA
