WTA MONTREAL- Simona Halep wins the title by outplaying Madison Keys in final

Tennis- Fifth seed Simona Halep continued her impressive form as she won third WTA title of the season, 14th of the career at Rogers Cup in Montreal after beating the 10th seed Madison Keys 7-6(2), 6-3 in the final. Halep and Keys were meeting for the fourth time, as Halep led the head to head record 2-1 between them.

Halep had won their most recent meeting in Wimbledon this month in 3 sets and before that in 2014 Rome in 2014. Keys had won their first meeting in Sydney 2014. In the first set both players were weak on their serves, as Halep broke Keys four times and the American broke back on all four occasions.

The set was decided by tie-break, which Halep won 7-2 to go one set up. In the second set Halep started strong and broke Keys early to race to a 3-0 lead. Halep did not face any break point in the second set and held all of her service games easily to take the second set 6-3 and clinched the title. This is her seventh title on hard court and it ensures that she will rise to No.3 in WTA Rankings.
