Tennis- World No.1 Serena Williams won her third round match against Johanna Larsson at US Open 2016 in one hour only and needs to win only four more matches to break Steffi Graf's open era record of winning most Grand Slams.
Fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska, fifth seed Simona Halep and sixth seed Venus Williams also won. Serena Williams faced Sweden's Larsson, who she had beaten in straight sets in both previous meetings. Once again Serena won exactly in 60 minutes 6-2, 6-1 as she saved the only break point she faced in the match and broke the Swede on four occasions to reach the last 16, where she will face Kazakhstan's Yaroslava Shvedova, who defeated China's Shuai Zhang 6-2, 7-5. Serena's older sister, former World No.1 and 2-time US Open champion Venus Williams also dropped only 3 games as she defeated Germany's Laura Siegemund 6-1, 6-2 in 78 minutes.
This is the 14th time she has reached last 16 at Flushing Meadows. To reach Quarterfinals for the 12th time she will have to beat 10th seed Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic, who defeated 17th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia 6-2, 6-4. Fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska also reached the last 16 with a straight sets 6-2, 6-3 win over 25th seed Caroline Garcia and will be attempting to reach last 8 of US Open for the first time.
For place in Quarterfinals she will face Croatia's Ana Konjuh who needed 3 sets to beat USA's Varvara Lepchenko 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Last year's semifinalist, fifth seed Simona Halep also needed 3 sets to beat 31st seed Timea Babos 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 and will take on 11th seed Carla Suarez Navarro now, who defeated 19th seed Elena Vesnina of Russia 6-4, 6-3.
