Tennis- Former World No.5, top seed Eugenie Bouchard was knocked out of the Coupe Banque Nationale WTA Tournament in Quebec City after losing to Russia's Alla Kudryavtseva in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. 2014 Wimbledon finalist Bouchard last met Kudryavtseva in 2014 Charleston when she won 6-2, 6-0 but it was a different story this time.
In the first set Russian player saved all three break points that she faced and broke the Canadian twice to take the first set 6-2. In the second set World No.162 Kudryavtseva kept the momentum going and again broke Bouchard to go 5-2 up.
Top seed got one break but could not get the second break back, as Kudryavtseva took the second set 6-3 to cause the upset. The match lasted for 62 minutes only. She will meet American qualifier Lauren Davis next. 19-year-old Canadian wildcard Francoise Abanda was also beaten, which means there is no Canadian left in the draw now.
Abanda was beaten by USA's Jessica Pegula 7-6(2), 7-5. France's Oceane Dodin also booked her place in the last 8 by beating USA's Sachia Vickery in straight sets 6-4 6-4 and will meet Belgium's Alison Van Uytvanck, who also won in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 against Czech Republic's Barbora Stefkova.
