Tennis- Top seed Irina-Camelia Begu, fourth seed Kristina Mladenovic and sixth seed Kirsten Flipkens were shown exit door on Thursday from Korea Open WTA Tournament in Seoul whereas fifth seed Monica Niculescu was the only seeded player to win on the day.

It was a day of upsets, as World No.23 Begu faced World No.102 Jana Cepelova, but despite being 79 ranks lower than ke Romanian, the Slovakian led 1-0 in head to head record between them. Cepelova took the first set 6-3 but Begu took the second set 6-4 to level the match.

Cepelova took the control back in the third set and won it 6-3 to set up a meeting with another Romanian, fifth seed Monica Niculescu, who won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 against another Slovakian Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.

The unseeded Romanian Patricia Maria Tig also caused an upset as she knocked out the sixth seed, 2013 Wimbledon semifinalist Kirsten Flipkens in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 and will meet Spain's Sara Sorribes Tormo, who stunned the fourth seed Kristina Mladenovic in 3 sets 1-6, 6-2, 6-4.
