WTA BOGOTA: Winning start for Larsson, Krunic, Arruabarrena and Vickery

Claro Open Colsantias in Bogota kicked off with 6 singles matches on Monday, with the 3rd and 4th seeds reaching the second round. Johanna Larsson had to come from behind to defeat French qualifier Fiona Ferro 2-6 6-2 6-1, scoring 6 breaks in sets 2 and 3 to be the dominant figure on the court and erase the pale performance from the opening set.

Qualifier Cindy Burger, who never entered Top 130, made a great start by beating Tatjana Maria, overcoming a 3-1 deficit in the final set to cross the finish line before German. In the all-American affair, Sachia Vickery took down 17-year-old Alyssa Mayo 6-0 6-2 in 63 minutes, taking mind blowing 76% of the return points to break the youngster 7 times.

Aleksandra Krunic was also solid in 6-2 6-4 triumph against the home player Maria Duque-Marino, needing 71 minutes to wrap up the win. The 4th seed Lara Arruabarrena had to stay on the court for more than 2 hours before she managed to oust Swiss qualifier Conny Perrin 4-6 6-3 6-2, keeping her serve safe in sets and 2 and 3.

Bulgarian Elitsa Kostova won her first WTA match since Bol almost a year ago, scoring a commanding 6-3 6-1 win over Grace Min in 66 minutes, grabbing almost 60% of the return points to control the scoreboard all the time.
