Seventh win in a row in Nurnberg for Kiki Bertens. The Dutch player, who won the title here last year, reached the quarter-finals beating Annika Beck 7-5 6-2 in an hour and 35 minutes. It was a tough first set for Bertens, who was broken in the first game.

Then she broke her opponent twice to go up 5-3 and then won it only 7-5. In the second set she faced only two break points - both in the first game - and won it in 39 mins. In the quarter-finals she will face Alison Riske. Yulia Putintseva defeated Yanina Wickmayer 6/4 6/0.

It was a solid perfomance for the player from Kazakhstan, who will face Sorana Cirstea next. Yaroslava Shvedova defeated Tatjana Maria 6/2 6/4. Shvedova hit three double faults but she played good enough to book a place in the quarters where she will face Misaki Doi, who beat Oceane Dodin in three sets.

Unfortunate ankle injury for Laura Siegemund, who retired up 6-4 5-5 against Barbora Krejcikova. Siegemund leaved the court on a stretcher, she will miss French Open. Krejcikova will face Carina Witthoeft next. Women's Singles Round 2 matches on Wednesday:
