30th win this year for Karolina Pliskova. The World No. 3 defeated Carina Wittfhoeft 7-5 6-1 to advance into the fourth round. The Czech player, who was supposed to play on Saturday but the match was postponed due to rain, was down 4-2 in the first set but then she won 11 of the last 13 games dominating the rest of the match.
Pliskova hit 34 winners to Witthoeft's five, and broke serve six times. It's the first time Karolina reaches the second week in Paris, she has done well at Grand Slam level in the last year: she reached the US Open final and Australian Open quarter-finals.
On Monday she will face Veronica Cepede Royg, who reached the fourth round in a Major for the first time in her career beating Mariana Duque Marino 6-3 in the third set. Without playing great, Elina Svitolina beat Magda Linette 6/4 7/5 in an hour and 28 minutes.
The Ukranian player hit 22 winners to 25 unforced errors and saved all the four break points she faced. On Monday Svitolina, who reached the fourth round for the third year in a row at the Roland Garros, will face Petra Martic, who lost only two games against Anastasija Sevastova.
Last time Martic reached a fourth round in Paris was 2012. Caroline Wozniacki was the first player to reach quarter-finals beating the 2009 champion Svetlana Kuznetsova 6/1 4/6 6/2 after two hours. Wozniacki hit 26 winners to 26 unforced errors.
Also Kuznetsova made 26 winners, but 41 unforced errors. It's the first time since 2010 that Wozniacki reaches quarters. She will face Jelena Ostapenko or Samantha Stosur next. Women's Singles matches on Sunday:
