WTA 'S-HERTOGENBOSCH - Konjuh saves 5 MPs, Mladenovic upset

Semifinals are set in 's-Hertogenbosch. Ana Konjuh defeated Evgeniya Rodina 6/3 6/7(4) 7/6(10) after two hours and 35 minutes. It was really a sports drama for Rodina, who was up a break thrice in the third set, and serving on 5-4 she was several times two points away from winning the match.

In the tie-break Rodina didn't convert five match points, Konjuh converted the only one she had and advanced into the semifinals where she will face Natalia Vikhlyantseva, who reaches her second semifinal at WTA level in career after the one in St.

Petersburg to win her seventh match this year. The Russian beat Arantxa Rus, who was playing her first WTA event since almost a year, 6/3 6/2. Kristina Mladenovic was the highest seeded player left in the draw, but she lost to Lesia Tsurenko for the fifth time on six matches played in career.

The Ukranian prevailed 6/3 6/1 in just an hour and two minutes. Tsurenko was never broken, she won 79% second serve points, while Mladenovic struggled a lot. She had not played her best tennis in the previous rounds, and today she was dominated, probably also because of fatigue after a tiring Roland Garros.

In the semifinals the Ukranian wil face Anett Kontaveit, who beat Carina Witthoeft 6/3 6/1. Women's Singles Quarterfinal matches on Friday:
