Caroline Wozniacki forced to postpone match against Serena Williams, her final one

Former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki has retired from professional tennis at the beginning of the year. While she stepped under the spotlight for the last time as a player of the WTA during the Australian Open, she has not yet definitely put her tennis shoes aside.

In fact, the Dane was supposed to give her final on-court farewell on home soil, on May 18, facing her friend of long date Serena Williams. However, Wozniacki has had to postpone the match due to the unprecedented global situation that forces sporting events to be cancelled all over the world.

The Dane communicated the sad news to her three million followers on Twitter: “Hi Everyone! I am sad to announce that my final match against Serena Williams has been postponed. The safety and health of everyone is most important!

We will be rescheduling for a later date, and will let everyone know as soon as we have one confirmed!” She then calmed any possible worry about tickets in another message: “If you already bought tickets to the sold out match, your tickets will still be good, once we pick a new date!

In the meantime, stay safe and thank you for all the support”.
