The 2021 season has been mixed for the great Rafael Nadal. The year was full of ups and downs, but it also had its fair share of lows. Unfortunately, the Spanish legend failed to capture a Grand Slam title this year. In addition, his campaign was also plagued with injuries.
While taking a break from the circuit right now, he has been enjoying his time off the court. Recently, Nadal participated in a charity golf tournament, which he even ended up winning. Nadal wins the solidarity golf event in Mallorca.
Despite missing Wimbledon, the Olympics and the US Open, Nadal has been recovering well for the near future. Previously, he had committed to playing in a charity golf tournament in his home country. Due to the injury, many people expected the event to be skipped.
On the contrary, Rafa kept his word and participated in the tournament, much to the joy of the fans. At the Mallorca event, Nadal had a great time on the field. What's more, the 20 Grand Slam winner even won the charity event title.
It was another trophy for the individual who is so used to winning. The Spaniard reportedly has a very high level in the sport of golf, which he must have put into practice in Mallorca. As seen in the video, Rafael Nadal won the exhibition contest and lifted the trophy through the roof.
A slightly disappointing 2021 for Rafael Nadal. If you asked Nadal himself, he would probably admit that 2021 hasn't been anywhere near his best season. He failed to capture the big titles, and an old foot injury resurfaced. As a result, the former world number one had a mediocre start and saw a qualifying slip from him.
Nadal is known for his pre-game routine
Apart from his 20 Grand Slam titles, Rafael Nadal is also known for another uncommon reason, his pre-game routine. Consequently, Andy Murray, Marin Cilic, Frances Tiafoe, and others answered in unison when asked who has the strangest pre-game ritual.
Hence, when asked about who has the strangest pre-game ritual, Andy Murray answered, “An easy one for me, and that would be Rafa Nadal”. Furthermore, he described the 35-year-old’s method. “He’s just a bundle of sort of nervous energy, I guess”.
When the question was asked to the World No.37 Alexander Bublik, a locker room story came to the surface. He revealed, “Rafa is running around the locker room all the time. He almost hit me at the Australian Open”.
Afterward, David Goffin and 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic illustrated the rituals. While Goffin said, “What he’s doing with his shorts, his nose,” Cilic completed him, “Before he goes up to serve or even to return could be. Who else?”
