Rafael Nadal: Personal satisfaction is stronger than any success

20-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal said giving his best brings him personal satisfaction and that's stronger than any success. Nadal, ranked at No. 6 in the world, has always been known for his competitive and fighting spirit.

Nadal never quits and that's one of the main reasons behind his success in the game. Nadal, a former world No. 1, is one of the most accomplished players in tennis history. "Whether you reach your goal or not, what brings the most happiness is knowing that you gave everything, every day, to try to achieve it.

That personal satisfaction is stronger than any success," Nadal said, per Tennis Majors.

Nadal ended his season prematurely

After losing in the French Open semifinal, Nadal skipped the entire grass season and the Tokyo Olympics to focus on recovering from his foot injury.

Nadal returned to action in early-August in Washington, where he suffered a shock round-of-16 loss to Lloyd Harris. After losing in the Washington round-of-16, Nadal pulled out of the Toronto Masters. Shortly after, Nadal announced he was done for the rest of the season.

"I wanted to inform you that unfortunately I have to end the 2021 season," Nadal tweeted in August. "Honestly, I have been suffering much more than I should with my foot for a year and I need to take some time... to find a solution to this problem or at least improve it in order to continue to have options for the next few years," Nadal said.

"I'm with the maximum enthusiasm and predisposition to do whatever it takes to recover the best possible shape to keep competing for the things that really motivate me. "I'm convinced that with the recovery of the foot and obviously a very important daily effort... this can be achieved. I will work as hard as I can to make it happen."
