It was undoubtedly the biggest surprise of 2021 and great satisfactions continue to arrive for the young British tennis player Emma Raducanu. The nineteen year old tennis player surprised all the professionals and tennis fans, winning the US Open 2021 starting from the qualifiers and without ever having won a match on the WTA circuit.
The numbers of Raducanu have reached various insiders and tennis fans, almost shocked by this resounding success, the first in Great Britain in a long time. The Digital Growth Agency Love UX recently released the numbers featuring the celebrities who bought the most followers in 2021.
Raducanu was the tennis player who gained more followers this year, she gained 2.1 million new followers during this season, exploded thanks to the victory of a Grand Slam, a success that guaranteed him an estimated growth in the 22,267.65%.
Raducanu is the first tennis player to win a Grand Slam title starting from qualifications, the first time in the Open era (since 1968). In this ranking even Raducanu beat the Big Three which in 2021 had fewer followers than the British.
Rafael Nadal, for example, has gained around two million followers this year, more than Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. Nadal also leads the overall ranking of the Big Three as he currently has 12.5 million followers, more than Novak Djokovic's 9.6 and Roger Federer's 8.8.
Emma Raducanu is the main tennis player in this ranking but she is far behind the world of football where the two world football legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi continue to dominate. Manchester United's Portuguese talent has earned 124 million Instagram users this 2021 and now currently owns 379.
Becker reflects on Rafa Nadal
Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are all tied on 20 Grand Slam titles, with Becker suspecting his former charge will win the battle of the statistics when all three hang up their rackets for the last time.
“Roger has already managed a lot of things where we said that is not possible at all. That’s why I wouldn’t rule it out,” he added. “It won’t be easy, tennis is changing and getting faster.
At some point it will no longer be easy. I think the two greats of tennis now have to think seriously about how long they can be called players. With Rafa it will be a bit easier than with Roger. There’s no bigger Roger fan than me, but I don’t know how easy it is to make another comeback after knee surgery at almost 41”.
