Coach Patrick Mouratoglou noticed Rafael Nadal used the tactics that Nick Kyrgios used during his Australian Open second round clash against Daniil Medvedev. Nadal found himself in an uncomfortable spot in the Australian Open final but he created a historic comeback to beat Medvedev 2-6 6-7 (5) 6-4 6-4 7-5.
Nadal started to use drop shots after losing the second set and it worked out well for him. Medvedev beat Kyrgios in the second round but it wasn't an easy win as he needed four tight sets to beat the Australian. Nadal created a historic comeback
Nadal now has two Australian Open titles in his collection and he now owns the all-time Grand Slam record with 21 Majors. Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, who didn't play at the Australian Open, have 20 Grand Slams in their collection.
