Rafael Nadal: I'm a person who loves kids and I'm a family guy

20-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal says he loves kids and would definitely love to start a family. However, Nadal suggested that he will wait until he retires to start a family. “I would love to have children: boys, girls… I’m a person who loves kids and I’m a family guy.

But also I tell you that the reality is, the years keep passing, I would like to start to do all of this when my sporting life determines it," Nadal said in his interview with The Sun, according to Sportskeeda. Nadal appeared to suggest that being a father while spending much time traveling around the world wouldn't be ideal.

“I think it’s also above all about looking after the kids. I don’t know if it [travelling throughout the year and having children] is ideal," Nadal added.

Nadal got married in 2019

"I didn’t know. If I didn’t see myself playing tennis...

then possibly, I could have had children before. It’s not something that just depends on you. I love children and I would like to form part of a family, and at the age, we are now we’re not going to wait five years," Nadal said.

Meanwhile, Nadal returned to Spain following his victory at the Australian Open. Nadal made a stunning comeback in the Australian Open final to beat Daniil Medvedev and capture a record 21st Grand Slam. Nadal's next scheduled tournament is Acapulco, which starts on February 21.

"I signed up for Acapulco and Indian Wells, but I have to make a decision that are in accordance with what my body allows me to do. Acapulco is the closer one, I would like to be there but I have to see what are the perspective," Nadal explained.

Nadal last played in Acapulco two years ago. Back then, Nadal beat Taylor Fritz in the final to lift the title.
