Polish tennis star Iga Swiatek felt good energy when she texted record 21-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal. Swiatek has spoken several times over the last few weeks about her text messages exchanged with Nadal. Swiatek felt a good energy from Nadal while exchanging text messages with him and she is hoping to one day be one of the best athletes in the world and inspire up and coming stars.
“When I texted to few athletes that basically are the greatest of their time, I felt that they were supportive and they inspired me. I am talking about Nadal and Shiffrin, for sure if I'm gonna be in their place, hopefully, I want to use my voice for somebody,” Swiatek said, per Lorenzo Ercoli.
Swiatek ready for Doha
Swiatek made a positive start to the season as she made the Adelaide semifinal and reached her first Australian Open semifinal. Swiatek didn’t impress last week as she suffered a round-of-16 in Dubai.
Former world No. 4 Swiatek is set for her second appearance in Doha. Swiatek debuted at the Doha event in 2020, when she made the second round before losing to Svetlana Kuznetsova. “I'm pretty excited. I had few days between Dubai and Doha, during which I practiced and I rest properly.
I feel pretty fresh and my game is on point. The semifinal in Australia gave me confidence, because actually I was always a clay court player,” Swiatek revealed. Swiatek split with her coach of five years after the 2021 season and added Tomasz Wiktorowski to her team.
“Tomasz Wiktorowski is giving me such a different perspective, because he is pretty experienced and he knows a lot of the tour. I feel that off-court he understands what I am going through sometimes. In terms of tennis he is helping me to be more aggressive,” Swiatek explained.
