Nadal made his Miami debut in 2004, when he made the round-of-16. The following year, Nadal reached his first Miami final - in which he ended runner-up to Roger Federer. Nadal is a five-time Miami finalist but he has never won a title at the tournament.
Nadal hasn't played in Miami since losing to Federer in the 2017 Miami final.
Nadal has played lots of tennis in 2022
After playing in just one event in the second part of the 2021 season, Nadal made a stunning return in Australia as he made it all the way at the Melbourne Summer Set and Australian Open.
Nadal took a three-week break and then returned to action in Acapulco, where he made it all the way. Nadal is now set to play at the Indian Wells Masters. During his pre-tournament press conference, Nadal revealed keys to his success in 2022.
“I have always been able to find a way to adapt my game when I have needed to become better,” Nadal said in his pre-tournament press conference in Indian Wells. “Some days I have played aggressively, some days I have played a little more defensively and more tactically.
“My serve has been working well, which is important at this stage in my career. Then I think I have been brave enough to play with the right determination when needed. I am just working hard to continue to improve, but I am happy with the level of tennis and intensity I am showing on court”.
Nadal is now focused on winning his fourth Indian Wells title. Nadal, who hasn't won Indian Wells since 2013, is set to play Sebastian Korda in the second round.
