Spanish tennis star Paula Badosa is sad to see Rafael Nadal injured and missing the Miami Masters. Nadal, who has won three titles so far in 2022, suffered a rib stress fracture in Indian Wells. However, Nadal pulled ouf of Miami even before he contracted the rib fracture.
“To tell the truth, it is very sad. It's a sad tournament without Nadal. He's a huge player, he's my idol and there are few words that can sum up my admiration for him. I feel sad for him but I'm sure he will recover and get back to the courts quickly," Badosa said of Nadal's absence, per We Love Tennis.
Nadal set to be out for at least a month
Nadal had difficulties breathing during the Indian Wells final. Nadal, who was clearly struggling with something on the court, suffered a straight-set defeat to Taylor Fritz in the final.
After the match, the tests revealed Nadal suffered a rib stress fractuce. Nadal announced he would be out for four to six weeks. “Hi everyone, I wanted to let you know that I'm back in Spain and I went straight to see my medical team for tests after the Indian Wells final, which I played in discomfort,” Nadal tweeted in Spanish.
“I have a stress fracture in one of my ribs and I will be out for 4 to 6 weeks. It's not good news and I didn't expect this. I am devastated and sad because after such a good start to the season I have had. “Now is a very important time of the year for me and I had a very good feeling and good results.
Well, I have always had that spirit of fighting and overcoming and what I will do is be patient and work hard after my recovery. Once again I would like to thank everyone for their support”.
