Rafael Nadal confirms: 'I will become a father'

Speaking with journalists in Mallorca, Rafael Nadal has confirmed that his wife Mery and he are expecting the first child. Mery's recent pictures from their vacation on a yacht started the rumors, and Rafa has confirmed the great news.

Rafa and Mery have been together since they were teenagers, and they got married three years ago in a beautiful ceremony at home in Mallorca. Nadal has repeatedly stated that he would love to have kids, and now we will see him in the new role of a father at 36.

His most significant rivals, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, have successfully embraced the fatherhood and remained competitive, and Rafa hopes to follow their steps. The Spaniard is eager to extend his career for a few more years despite a new family member.

Nadal enjoyed a couple of days with his family and friends on his beautiful yacht, and he is back on the practice court ahead of Wimbledon.

Rafael Nadal will become a father for the first time.

Despite injuries and setbacks, Nadal has had a great run in 2022, and the year only becomes better with the wonderful news about the baby.

Rafa skipped the second part of the previous season with a foot injury, and he did not know what to expect early in 2022. Rising above injuries again, the Spaniard claimed the second Australian Open title following an epic victory over Danill Medvedev in the title clash.

Rafa had to skip Monte Carlo and Barcelona after a rib fracture from Indian Wells. Nadal did not play well in Madrid and Rome, and his foot started hurting again at Foro Italico. The Spaniard needed an injection in his foot ahead of every match at Roland Garros, and he passed three tough obstacles to advance into the final and secure the 14th Parisian trophy.

Doing his best to recover for Wimbledon, Rafa underwent two treatments on his foot in Barcelona, and he is ready to chase his first All England Club trophy since 2010. "If everything goes well, I will become a father. I do not usually talk about my personal life; I'm already exposed in my professional life.

I do not know how my life will change because I do not have experience, but I will continue my career when the child is born," Rafael Nadal said.
